Magic Encyclopedia: Moon Light is the third title in Alawar’s Magic Encyclopedia series. Having not played the previous iterations, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised when the opening music began playing, and even more so by the dramatic opening cinematic sequence where we are introduced to Katrina, the protagonist of the story.
Taken to the world map at the start of the game, it becomes apparent that this is going to be one long adventure, so I buckle my metaphorical seat belt, and delve into the magic of Alawar’s latest creation.
Without any expectations, I was pleasantly surprised by the mechanics of the game. This is composed of finding items, putting them together and using them to interact with objects on the screen. The game play is simple and easy to get your head around which is great for those new to the hidden object genre. You needn’t have played the previous titles either, as the story is new and doesn’t appear to run on from the previous title in too much depth. The only drama that is involved is in the story, and not in getting frustrated at the game. (Thank God!)
